Gone Crackers 😝 🤣
Decided to make my own crackers this year for Charcuterie boards. 🎄
I have made three varieties one with a little heat 🌶
We do love the Aussie way of meat, dips and cheese boards with our wine and beer it’s an awesome way to entertain just before having a bbq on the weekends. I start with the basics and then add as I go with what I like to include in the mix.
Nutty Cracker Recipe
150 g whole wheat flour
150 g all purpose flour
50 g packed light brown sugar
2 Tspn finely grated orange zest
I used 5-6 drops YL orange essential oil
1 Tspn ground cardamom
1 Tspn ground black pepper
1 Tspn baking powder
1teaspoon baking soda
1/2 Tspn salt
2 cups butter milk
1/4 cup honey
2 tblsn molasses
3 cups in total combination of the following :
1 tbln Chia seeds
Extra if you wish to add chilli flakes .
I made mine in three different batches
One I used clove , cinnamon , ginger, flaxseed, sesame seed
Basically add what you would like more or less in your crackers.
Preheat over 350 f 180 c
Line a loaf tin 9×5
Sift all the flours brown sugar zest cardamom baking powders and salt in a large bowl.
Separate bowl add the wet ingredients
Separate bowl add the fruit and nut
Add wet ingredients to flours than fold the nuts and seeds in.
Pour into loaf pan and cook for approx 50 minutes until Skewer comes out dry when testing.
Allow to cool in tin for 30 min then turn onto cooling rack to completely cool. Best to make a day ahead then wrap and chill overnight before thinly slicing and rebaking. Holds its able better and allows to cut thin.
Second bake preheat over 300f 150c line two trays with parchment paper and place thinly sliced onto the tray. Toast them for about 20min flipping half way through until brown ed and crisped.
If crackers feel soft after cooling return to oven.
Otherwise they will harden as they cool. Store airtight container. I used EO YL orange 🍊🍊
